Who we are
A timber specialist,
not a flooring retailer
Impi Teak supplies and installs wooden flooring, timber decking and structural timber for homes and businesses across South Africa. Our workshop is in President Park, Midrand.
Anyone can sell you boards. Getting a timber floor or deck to still look right in fifteen years takes experience.
Our roots are in hardwood — Rhodesian teak, kiaat, balau, oak — and in knowing how each behaves in South African conditions.
We also supply and lay reclaimed parquet flooring, and if a floor can be sanded and resealed rather than replaced, we will say so.

The material
The material
is the floor
Graded, kiln-dried and moisture-tested before a single board goes down.
Graded, kiln-dried hardwood, moisture-tested before a board goes down. That one habit prevents most of the cupping and gapping people blame on bad wood years later.
Timber then acclimatises on site before it is laid — and outdoors the same discipline goes into the part you never see.

The record
What we can
actually claim
No round numbers, no badges. Just the things about this business that are true and that you can hold us to.
Over twenty years
A small team, a stack of hardwood and a reputation built one floor at a time. Two decades on, the work has not changed.
A workshop, not a van
Beams, treads, stringers and cladding are machined at our own Midrand workshop, not designed around merchant stock.
Fixed written pricing
A fixed written quotation, usually within two working days. What you approve is what you pay.
Guaranteed workmanship
Workmanship guaranteed, manufacturer warranties passed through. If something is not right, we come back.
One project
Elevated deck,
Johannesburg
An elevated deck carries loads a ground-level one never sees — people, furniture, wind, and a balustrade that has to hold.
Correctly sized bearers, joists at the right centres, ventilation underneath, and stainless or hidden fasteners so nothing bleeds rust.

Questions
Asked every week
Straight answers on coverage, cost, timing and timber.
From our Midrand workshop, throughout South Africa — Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, Polokwane, Mbombela, Kimberley and East London included — plus completed projects in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Eswatini and the DRC.
It depends on the timber, the board format, the sub-floor and the finish. Engineered oak is usually the most economical premium option; solid teak and kiaat sit at the top. We measure free of charge and quote in writing.
Solid hardwood is one piece of timber right through, so it can be sanded and resealed for decades. Engineered bonds a real hardwood layer to a stable core, which handles screed and underfloor heating better. Both are genuine wood floors.
Three to five working days for a typical 60–90 m² residential floor, including preparation, laying, sanding and sealing. Parquet and larger commercial floors take longer. A day-by-day programme comes with the quotation.
Very often, yes. If the boards are sound, sanding back and resealing costs a fraction of replacement and usually looks better than new. We will tell you honestly when it is not worth it.
Balau and garapa — dense, naturally durable and stable through big temperature swings. Poolside we favour grooved balau for grip, fixed with stainless or hidden fasteners.
